I agree with JJ almost completely. The writing is very good compared with a lot of the stories here, however, the story its self lacks 'zest' it has no feeling of real emotion from the characters. (8/10)

Fairly well-written excerpt which reads like "an evening in the life of...". Fairly, because the use of too many of the same words in too short a space.
"Owning Beth" is a tad disappointing too, because it ends where the real fun should start.
But what's there is more than okay --bar the aformentioned need of some synonyms. Entertaining, exciting and nicely flowing, "Owning Beth" is a nice read, which deserves to be worked-out a bit more, both in characterization as in scope.
