I have always enjoyed Faibhar's stories set in ancient times in which a strong female character fell in the hands of ruthless torturers, and despite her determination, was eventually cruelly subdued. The resistance which is hopeless to begin with adds a tragic element to the fate of the heroine. This is another such well written story. Faibhar was very good in contrasting the plush life of the Roman characters and the suffering of Sethra, thus adding an additional dimension to the eroticism in BDSM. While Marcianna and the black slave had a tough time pulling the chariot up the hill, they got to rest but Sethra was strung up for whipping. While the soldiers cursed the heat, Sethra had to carry the patibulum to her execution naked, covered by sweat and grime. Trenus only took pleasure in humiliating and executing this defiant rebel, and could not care less once she was well pinned up on the cross and left to die a most horrible death. This was probably a true reflection of how trivial a matter execution was in our unfortunate heroine’s time. The only complaint I have is that in the beginning of the story, it is unimaginable that Sethra would so docilely submit to be chained at the foot of Trenus’ bed and did nothing throughout the night. It is also very unlikely that she would so passively accept getting harnessed to the chariot and agree to pull the chariot around. Perhaps she should be in heavier chains (wrists, ankles, or even hog-tied?) when kept near Trenus’ bed? Perhaps to force an unwilling rebel leader to pull the chariot, a few soldiers would have to keep her under control by a chain on her neck and drag her where Trenus wanted her to go at least in the beginning? Despite these flaws this is a very well written piece and I will be certainly waiting for more. (9/10)

Another solid piece of writing by a very prolific author. Loved the realistic ending. (8/10)

- Dear h,
Patience, as the bromide says, is a virtue, e,g, more is on the way. I just hope it meets your standards. F.
